Parenting a child with special needs is a responsibility that often needs a little extra encouragement. For fathers of children with special needs, this encouragement has not been easily accessible until recently, with the inception of the Twin Cities first fathers support group.
We meet one Monday a month at Wilder School in South Minneapolis from 5:30 to 7:30 in the evening. While fathers meet, the children spend time with certified Early Childhood Special Education (ECFE) teachers. The meetings are free.
We've uncovered many helpful resources here in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. From educational seminars and school advocates to special therapies and services, we have the links.
Our group is funded through the generosity of friends, family, and community members that appreciate our unique role in helping the fathers of special needs kids. With all donations spent directly on program support, even small contributions make a big difference.
